Getting Medications into Your Rat

Here is something I have tried that seems to work well for getting liquid medications into a finicky rat. Mix a couple of tablespoons of rolled oats with a tad of brown sugar and some wheat germ, then cut in just enough peanut butter to make a dry crumbly mixture. Store this in the refrigerator. Right before giving the medication, take about one quarter of a teaspoon of this dry mixture and add a small amount of mashed banana to make a paste. Roll up a little ball of whole wheat bread and use a syringe (no needle) to inject the medication into the bread ball that has been coated in the banana paste. This is a big hit at my house!
